Aces n Spades is a relatively new rock themed bar in Hout Street, Cape Town. When I first heard about it my thoughts turned to a dingy, dark bar and everything inside was black and gothic including the people but as it turns out , it is a neat bar filled with attention grabbing décor ( a massive hogs head mounted above the bar and 2 large sugar skull images stained onto glass in the centre island of the bar). One thing that really stood out to me was the fact that they stock local craft beer, they currently stock Devils Peak Brewing Company beers at a fairly decent price. A negative aspect of this bar is that as a smoker you are shunned into a tiny alley way out back but I suppose that it is a positive if you are not a smoker.

A wide variety of people enjoy this watering hole, which is awesome as it does not then only become a jock or gothic spot and does not carry that stigma attached to it.

Unfortunately some of the bar staff were the unfriendliest douchebags I have ever come across. That aside I had a rad evening and will definitely be going back in the near future.

Am I the only one who can see that this is a viral marketing campaign being run by A&F? It’s clever, but sneaky because the journalist was most likely hired by A&F to kick off a rebranding campaign. I’m pretty sure the bad publicity was intended too, as part of the entire strategy. This astroturfing is a tool which yuppie marketers use to fool the masses.

Opening the show in Johannesburg will be South Africa’s hottest urban artist AKA, who will perform his latest smash hit ‘Jealousy’ and others. In Cape Town the legendary rapper Jack Parow will open for Snoop with hits like his ‘Cooler as Ekke’ and ‘Dans Dans Dans’. With these two home-grown additions, Snoop Lion’s South Africa Tour is promising all concert-goers an experience that is not to be missed. That’s not all, Snoop Lion is throwing an after-party for all his Johannesburg fans at the well-renowned night club Taboo, Sandton this Sunday 19th May where Snoop is expected to make an appearance.

Snoop will perform an array of his classic and most recent hits such as “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” “Gin and Juice” and “Young, Wild and Free,” as well as new material from his new reggae and dancehall inspired album, REINCARNATED, promising all concert-goers an exciting live music experience.
